With over a decade of professional experience in documentary, outdoor/adventure, commercial, and fine art photography, Heather McKenney has become known as a creative partner to family-owned businesses, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions throughout the United States. McKenney's keen eye for the organic, genuine moments of human connection, finding intimacy in the details, and collaboration with her clients to tell their stories has led to professional relationships with Bozeman Ice Festival, Project WET, Engineers Without Borders, Oh’ Ranger: USA National Parks Guide, Montana Womans Climbing Festival, Montana Whitewater Rafting Co., and Izakay Three Fish.
From teaching workshops and creating new curricula to giving artist talks and guest lectures while exhibiting her photographic artworks nationwide in solo and group exhibitions, McKenney is as passionate about education as she is about the art of photography. As an Associate Faculty member with over five years of experience, McKenney has had the pleasure and privilege of instructing traditional and experimental analog, wet darkroom, and digital photographic practices to young, up-and-coming artists at Montana State University since the Fall of 2019.
